Ep 34: How To Talk With Teens About Racism, Antiracism and Social Justice with Calvalyn Day

 June 11, 2020

In this episode, we will discuss how the teenage brain is wired, tips for getting teens talking beyond one-word answers, and how to talk with teens about racism, antiracism and social justice.

About Calvalyn Day

My guest in this episode is Calvalyn Day. You might remember Calvalyn from episode 9 of the podcast. She’s a former school counselor and now works as a coach and consultant serving schools across the country. Calvalyn is also the author of two books: “Drag ‘Em Kicking and Screaming” and “Authentically Engaged Families”. She has a wealth of experience working with families and teens, and most importantly, Calvalyn is a mother to four daughters and a Mimi to four grandsons. I invited Calvalyn back to the podcast this week because I think it’s extremely important that we find better ways to communicate with our teens during our day to day communication, but also specifically regarding racism, anti-racism, and social justice.
